ST. ANDREW’S NICHT CELEBRATION
November 30 once again marked the date of and exciting evening honoring St. Andrew’s Nicht. As usual we began the evening with cocktails and light fare at the Rooms. At 7:15 we paraded to the Fort Orange Club led by Piper to the Society, Mr. Gordon Peters, and our Armorer Mr. James R Burns. We had just shy of 60 members and guests in attendance. Because of a mixup in schedules we ended up in the main dining room this year which was actually quite a treat. The food was delicious as always and after dinner we were regaled by the fine singing and harp playing of Mr. James Ruff a music professor at Vassar College. He was playing a replica Irish harp and singing Gaelic songs to everyone’s delight. At the end of the meeting we had the installation of officers with Richard MacDowell taking over as President, William Burke as first VP and Andrew Patterson as the second Vice President. The feedback was universally positive and we look forward to another lovely dinner at the Fort Orange Club on 30 November 2018.
