New York City Tartan Day – April 6

April 6 is National Tartan Day in the United States. A day for recognizing Scottish and Scottish-American contributions to the United States, and for celebrating Scottish heritage and pride. The Parade is held annually on a Saturday closest to the 6th. The Parade features bagpipe bands playing Scottish music, thousands of marchers dressed in tartan and representing their clans, groups and associations to celebrate Scottish heritage. Also included are the popular four-legged participants, the Dog Pack, comprising several Scottish dog breeds. The days before and after the Parade are called “Tartan Week” and are filled with a full range of Scottish-themed events.
