Vice President Burke MC’s the celebration

The Society’s Burns Night celebration was a great success with attendance close to 40 including a number of guests. President Bruce Newell opened the festivities with a welcome to those attending, and then 2nd Vice President Bill Burke took over as master of ceremonies. The Address to the Haggis was given by prospective member, Steve King, who did a fine job with it.

Bill called on attendees to offer the Selkirk Grace, toasts to the Queen, President, Lads and Lassies. Bill then invited members to read selections of Burns. One of our members shared the story of his heritage back to an ancestor who had dealings with Burns. A good time was had by all with the remembrances.

The silent auction was a good success.

Everyone was complimentary about the food served including the chocolate cake for dessert. The staff of the country club did a fine job.
