We were saddened to learn of the death of Donald Stuart Macintyre, member of the St. Andrew’s Society since January 1993. Don was an active member of our Society and our Book Club. The following obituary was carried in the Times-Union newspaper.
Donald Stuart Macintyre, DDS, LT, USN, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by family and friends, passed away on July 8, 2016, just one day shy of his 87th birthday. Born in Albany, Don attended East Greenbush public schools and earned his bachelor of science from Siena College. Don served in the United States Navy as a fighter jet pilot in Attack Squadron 72 for eight years before being honorably discharged and attending Georgetown University School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. Don married his wife Nancy J. Macintyre in 1960, graduated valedictorian from Georgetown in 1961, and established his dental office in East Greenbush where he practiced for more than 50 years. Don was a member of the Third District Dental Society, the New York State Dental Association, the American Dental Association, the Georgetown Alumni Association, the Quiet Bird Men, the St. Andrew’s Society and the Melvin Roads Post #1231 American Legion. Funeral and burial services will be private.
